Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2004 motivated by an awakening. During my years as a psychology student in the University of Puerto Rico, I was a bodywork practitioner. Personally experiencing the healing power of working with the body, lead me to move to San Francisco to learn more about body-mind relationship and become a Somatic Psychotherapist.

It was also during my time in the University of Puerto Rico, that I became politicized. I understood the impact colonialism and other forms of oppression have in our minds, bodies, and relationships. This understanding has grounded my healing work by orienting me to consciously resist the split between the personal and the social often created by traditional individualistic models of psychotherapy and coaching. Patriarchy, racism, capitalism, and colonialism shape us and are root causes of trauma. In addition, I believe personal healing and collective liberation go hand in hand. It’s possible to transform from the ways oppression has shaped us, emerge with more power and joy, and create a more just world.
