Slow down and heal overwhelm and self-doubt
by tuning into your body.
Overwhelm and self-doubt don’t have to continue ruling your life.
As a caring and hard working person you have been able to get where you are today because you are committed and resilient. You are reliable and others know they count on your support. But somewhere along your path, you are struggling and feel pressured to keep going and going.
You wake up(if you slept much) feeling anxious and dreading your long to-do list. Even though you accomplish a lot, keeping it together is overwhelming and there’s a hard voice inside questioning your worth and your capacities.
At the same time, you feel the tension of feeling stuck in life, confused and unable to make changes you long for.
To others it seems you got everything under control. However, in your body it feels like stress hardly ever goes away.
Anxiety takes us away from the present moment. While the mind is worried either with the past or the future, it can be difficult to know what’s causing it or what you need in the present.
When you feel anxious or stressed you might notice body sensations like nervousness, tension, racing heart, aches, pains, staying awake at night, or spiraling thoughts.
Anxiety’s job is to respond to fear and move us away from danger. It is the nervous system’s alert signal.
Anxiety is also connected to injustice and suffering caused by the society we live in. Overwhelm and self-doubt are not personal shortcomings, they are in part a result of trauma and oppression.
Stop going and going. Start being here now.
In our sessions we will…

Anxiety the messenger
Anxiety is a nervous system response trying to protect us. We will work to develop curiosity when it shows up in your life.
We will carefully untangle how past painful experiences or trauma may be connected to how you feel today and offer the care it’s needed.

Why heal from Anxiety?
Because when we have more capacity to feel,
we have more capacity to create the life and world we want.

Our bodies have the amazing capacities needed to help us engage with challenging mental, physical and emotional experiences. Through our nervous system stress response we are able to do this. The nervous system becomes activated to help us engage with life situations and then enters a period of recovery to help us rest and integrate what we went through. Through this cycle we learn and grow. Unfortunately the culture and society we live in makes it very difficult for us to move through this natural cycle and sends us into a state of chronic stress, where we regularly can’t complete the cycle and restore. Getting stuck in this activated state of our nervous systems, is what we might call anxiety.

I like to think that more than a having a beginning and end, healing is practice and as a process is not linear. Everyone’s healing process is different. I can accompany you at some of the intersections of your healing path and help you find ease from what aches you at this time of your process.
Having said this, the possibility to feel more present, more ease, is possible once we create the space to slow down and listen to the body.

This makes so much sense. Anxiety is felt in the body. In fact anxiety is both about what’s happening in the body and in the mind. Part of our work is to engage in somatic practices that help slow down how anxiety activates the body and support restoring balance and ease. We don’t have to feel everything at once. We can take the time it’s needed.
